About the Artist
Joyce opened her design studio in New York City in 1977. It produced artwork featuring licensed and original characters, primarily for children's sleepwear and juvenile bedding. If you or your child cuddled on sheets adorned with Care Bears, Cabbage Patch Kids, Little Mermaid, Muppets, or Batman, Joyce and her staff probably designed them.
However, all of the success took Joyce away from her first love, which was painting and designing. In order to get back to her roots, she closed the studio in 1980 and went solo.
Back at the drawing board, Joyce developed, licensed, and marketed her own characters. They appeared on children's sleepwear, T-shirts, underwear, bibs, infant-wear, and handbags. She also continued designing for the established licensed characters, one of her favorites being Lamb Chop products for the late Shari Lewis.
Joyces artistic energy is now focused on original childrens portraits. This specialty has always been her first love. She is a member of the Portrait Society of America and the American Society of Portrait Artists.
Throughout the years the people who know Joyce and her work have remarked over and over again that the boundless joy in Joyces life overflows into her beautiful artwork. As her newest customers, we hope you'll agree with them.
